Jakarta, December 19, 2024 – In a move to accelerate Indonesia’s renewable energy transition, SUN Energy, one of the country's largest solar energy developers, has officially entered into a strategic partnership with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) (“PT SMI”). This collaboration is realized through a long-term project financing facility worth IDR 620 billion with a 15-year tenure. The funding will be utilized to support the development of solar energy projects in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors across Indonesia, covering construction costs and financial support for ongoing projects.
The financing facility from PT SMI enables SUN Energy to further expand its solar energy project portfolio nationwide. Beyond funding construction, this support provides the company with greater flexibility in managing the operational needs of its growing projects.
Emmanuel Jefferson, Director of SUN Energy, stated, “The support from PT SMI gives us the flexibility we need to continue innovating and expanding our solar energy portfolio. As a leader in Indonesia’s solar energy sector, we are committed not only to maintaining this position but also to setting new standards in sustainable solar technology implementation. This partnership is a major step toward a cleaner and greener future for Indonesia.”
Sylvi J. Gani, Director of Financing and Investment at PT SMI, added, “We see this collaboration as a strategic initiative to support Indonesia’s energy transformation. PT SMI is committed to playing an active role in addressing the climate crisis by promoting the use of clean and environmentally friendly energy. We hope to further explore the potential for solar infrastructure financing across Indonesia.”
The financing facility from PT SMI will play a crucial role in accelerating the development of solar energy projects in the commercial and industrial sectors, aligning with the Indonesian government’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and increase the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix.
With funding allocated for new project construction and refinancing ongoing projects, SUN Energy is ensuring the sustainability of solar energy development in Indonesia. This collaboration reflects the long-term vision of both companies in driving energy transformation and creating a positive environmental impact.
