SUN Energy Brings Solar Energy to Indocement’s 50th Anniversary, Collaboration Supports Climate Action Through Technolog

Jakarta, August 4, 2025 – In celebration of the 50th anniversary of PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk (Indocement), a key player in Indonesia’s cement industry and a valued business partner of SUN Energy, SUN Energy contributed to bringing clean energy solutions into public spaces through the installation of CHARGEE, solar-powered charging stations, at several locations within Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta (02/08).

CHARGEE is a solar-powered charging station designed by SUN Energy to recharge mobile phones using sunlight. The unit is portable and can be moved easily to different locations as needed, making it a flexible solution for a variety of events. By harnessing solar energy as its power source, CHARGEE produces zero carbon emissions, serving as an environmentally friendly and practical solution for large public gatherings.

Carrying the theme "Shining Achievements, Building the Future", this national-scale event successfully drew thousands of visitors and earned a record from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI). During the vibrant celebration, CHARGEE stood out as an innovative feature offering a hands-on experience of the benefits of solar energy in public spaces. Its presence not only provided access to clean electricity for attendees but also served as an important tool for raising awareness about simple, low-emission lifestyle choices.

“SUN Energy believes that clean energy knows no boundaries, neither in space nor scale. The presence of CHARGEE at Indocement’s 50th anniversary celebration shows that even major events can prioritize sustainability. This collaboration is not just a symbol of our shared commitment but a tangible step taken together with Indocement to accelerate the energy transition and move toward a low-carbon future,” said Emmanuel Jefferson Kuesar, CEO of SUN Energy.

In addition to presenting CHARGEE, SUN Energy also supported a community housing program for construction workers by participating in an arts appreciation activity. A painting created by a local community, depicting Indocement’s solar energy system (PLTS) in Citeureup, serves as an icon of the strategic collaboration between SUN Energy and Indocement, symbolizing the spirit of partnership not only in the energy transition but also in community empowerment.

As a customer of SUN Energy, Indocement has played a strategic role in advancing the adoption of renewable energy in the industrial sector. SUN Energy’s involvement in Indocement’s five-decade milestone is not just a showcase of technology, but a testament to a long-term partnership. Moving forward, both companies are opening doors to broader collaboration in support of climate change mitigation.

This partnership reflects a shared vision between the two companies in tackling the increasingly urgent climate crisis, aligned with the spirit of tangible action under Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 13: Climate Action.

As a company focused on renewable energy solutions, SUN Energy believes that the transition to a low-carbon future must start in all sectors, including public spaces. The collaboration with PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk, which has committed to “Building a Net-zero Future”, is a concrete step in supporting the global targets of the Paris Agreement and Indonesia’s commitment to achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2060.

“We deeply appreciate SUN Energy’s support in this celebration. The presence of CHARGEE demonstrates that clean technology can be made accessible to the public and integrated into a new culture of environmentally friendly event management. This aligns with Indocement’s ongoing mission to prioritize Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in all operations,” said Indocement President Director Christian Kartawijaya.

SUN Energy reaffirms its commitment to supporting Indocement and other partners in creating events with a sustainability focus. Through public education and the introduction of innovative technologies like CHARGEE, SUN Energy hopes to inspire more stakeholders, industries, event organizers, and the general public, to begin their journey toward low-emission lifestyles and a cleaner future for the next generation.
