SUN Energy Celebrates 200 MW Operating Capacity Milestone at PT LamiPak Indonesia

Banten, August 28, 2025 – SUN Energy, Indonesia’s leading commercial and industrial (C&I) solar developer, has officially solidified its position as the number one rooftop solar developer in the country after reaching a major milestone of 200 MW operating capacity since its establishment in 2016. This achievement was celebrated at the facility of PT Lami Packaging Indonesia (LamiPak) in Cikande, Serang, Banten, one of the largest rooftop solar projects in the aseptic packaging industry with a total capacity of 5.33 MW.

By mid-2025, SUN Energy had developed more than 300 rooftop solar projects across 20 provinces, serving over 50 industrial sectors ranging from Fast Moving Consumer Goods or FMCG (5.5%), automotive (2.8%), food & beverage (5.2%), to mining (6.2%). SUN Energy’s client portfolio includes major corporations such as Unilever, Avian, Ajinomoto, Astra Group, and now LamiPak.

The total 200 MW of rooftop solar developed by SUN Energy is estimated to generate more than 295 million kWh of clean energy annually and reduce carbon emissions by up to 228,000 tons of CO₂ per year, equivalent to planting more than 3.1 million trees

“Since the very beginning, our vision has been to position SUN Energy as the primary partner for industries in the energy transition. With this 200 MW milestone, we officially affirm our position as the number one rooftop solar developer in Indonesia. However, this is not the finish line; it is the starting point of our transformation. SUN Energy is now moving beyond Solar-as-a-Service, expanding into Sustainability-as-a-Service, delivering integrated solutions that cover solar energy, energy storage, fleet electrification (fleet-as-a-service), and the electric vehicle ecosystem, as well as water management. We aim to ensure that the energy transition not only boosts business competitiveness but also creates a positive impact for the environment and society at large,” said Emmanuel Jefferson Kuesar, CEO of SUN Energy.

“The adoption of rooftop solar across industrial, commercial, and household sectors is a strategic pathway to accelerate the utilization of Indonesia’s vast solar potential. As a reference, data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024 showed that installed solar capacity nationwide was approximately 900 MW. So it is remarkable that SUN Energy alone has achieved 200 MW,” stated Andriah Feby Misna, Director of Various New and Renewable Energy, MEMR, who joined virtually at the 200 MW celebration event.

Rooftop Solar at LamiPak Indonesia

One of the key contributions to SUN Energy’s milestone comes from LamiPak Indonesia, which began its clean energy transformation in 2024 through the development of a first-phase 2.8 MWp rooftop solar project. This success paved the way for the realization of the second phase at 2.4 MW, bringing the total capacity to 5.33 MW. This solar installation is projected to generate 7.1 GWh of clean energy annually and reduce carbon emissions by 5,645 tons of CO₂, equivalent to planting 91,130 trees.

As a leading aseptic packaging manufacturer, LamiPak is at the forefront of the industry with high standards in innovation and quality. As the first aseptic packaging producer in Indonesia, the company serves both domestic and international markets with products that guarantee food integrity, safety, and hygiene. Sustainability has become an integral part of LamiPak’s global business strategy, making the investment in rooftop solar at its new Cikande plant aligned with its efforts to deliver solutions that are both competitive and environmentally responsible.

“For LamiPak, rooftop solar investment is a strategic step toward achieving our Zero Nett Carbon Roadmap 2050, while ensuring that business growth is aligned with environmental responsibility. This project proves that clean energy can go hand in hand with international industrial standards,” said Anton Hui, Managing Director of LamiPak Indonesia.

“The collaboration between LamiPak Indonesia and SUN Energy demonstrates that the energy transition can be achieved when we move together: government, business, communities, and, of course, PLN. PLN itself is fully committed to supporting Indonesia’s journey toward Net Zero Emissions by 2060. We are delivering this commitment through various service innovations, provision of green infrastructure, and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders,” said Muhammad Joharifin, General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) UID Banten, who also conveyed his appreciation at the event.
