Advancing the Development of Eco-Industrial Parks, SUN Energy and PT Bekasi Power Enter Exclusive Partnership for Solar

Bekasi, May 8, 2025 – SUN Energy, a leading solar energy project developer in Indonesia, and PT Bekasi Power (BP) – a subsidiary of PT Jababeka Tbk – have entered into a strategic partnership to support the development of an environmentally friendly and sustainable eco-industrial park. This exclusive collaboration includes the development of solar energy systems for industrial zones within the electricity service area of PT Bekasi Power.

This collaboration reinforces the commitment of SUN Energy and PT Bekasi Power to promote the Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) concept, which balances industrial growth with environmental sustainability. Through the development of solar energy projects, the partnership contributes to reducing carbon emissions in the industrial sector and aligns with Indonesia’s target of 23% renewable energy mix by 2030, as well as the nation’s vision to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060. The initiative also strengthens PT Bekasi Power’s role in supporting the realization of the Jababeka Net Zero cluster.

As part of the agreement, SUN Energy will design, construct, and manage solar energy systems for tenants connected to the PT Bekasi Power electricity network. One of the industrial tenants in the area, PT Dharma Precision Parts, has already adopted a rooftop solar system in collaboration with the SUN Group as part of its move toward environmentally friendly operations.

Jony Oktavian Haryanto, President Director of PT Bekasi Power, explained, “We see this partnership as a strategic step to promote the use of renewable energy within industrial zones. As a utility company responsible for supplying energy to the Jababeka Industrial Estate, we are committed to supporting the realization of the Jababeka Net Zero cluster alongside our partners. This initiative is also one of the key approaches to achieving green energy targets among Jababeka tenants.”

Djefri Cantono, Operational Director of PT Bekasi Power, added that this initiative is not just about cost savings, but also a real contribution toward fostering a more environmentally friendly industrial sector. “PT Bekasi Power plays a crucial role in providing reliable and sustainable energy, and in supporting Indonesia’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions as outlined in the Paris Agreement and the 2060 Net Zero Emissions target. Through this partnership, we are opening doors for Jababeka tenants who are ready to undergo energy transformation, such as implementing rooftop solar PV systems,” he said.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Jefferson Kuesar, President Director of SUN Energy, stated, “This partnership is a strategic move in driving the transformation of industrial estates into sustainable growth hubs. SUN Energy sees great potential in the industrial sector to become a key driver in the national energy transition. Through this collaboration, we are not only providing solar energy solutions but also strengthening a cleaner and more resilient energy ecosystem for the future.”

Oky Gunawan, Chief Sales Officer of SUN Energy, added, “SUN Energy continues to strengthen its position as the number one solar energy developer in Indonesia by forming strategic partnerships and delivering tailored solutions to the industrial sector to meet their energy needs in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way. Today, more customers and business partners are demanding low-emission operations, including the use of renewable energy sources like solar PV. By adopting solar energy systems, industrial players can reduce operational costs while enhancing their competitiveness and reputation in both domestic and global markets.”

Oky concluded by saying that SUN Energy will continue to expand strategic partnerships with industrial players, commercial entities, and estate operators across Indonesia. “With a flexible and needs-based approach tailored to each area, SUN Energy is optimistic about accelerating the country’s sustainable energy transition.”
