Jakarta, August 22, 2025 – SUN Energy returns to the Maybank Marathon 2025 Bali as a sustainability partner, bringing solar charging stations and an interactive education booth featuring a solar calculator. This initiative is part of SUN Energy’s commitment to advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles by providing clean energy solutions accessible to the wider public.
Maybank Marathon, an international running event taking place on August 22–24, 2025 at Bali United Training Center, will be joined by 13,600 participants from various countries. SUN Energy will install solar charging stations, known as CHARGEE, at nine strategic locations, allowing runners and visitors to charge their phones for free using solar energy. Beyond convenience, the presence of CHARGEE demonstrates a practical application of renewable energy technology, reducing reliance on fossil fuels while also lowering carbon emissions during the event.
“Maybank Marathon 2025 is one of the most prestigious and strategic events to showcase how clean energy can be part of everyday life. Through innovations like CHARGEE and the solar calculator, we want to encourage people to see clean energy as part of a sustainable lifestyle, just like this sporting event,” said Emmanuel Jefferson Kuesar, CEO of SUN Energy.
At the SUN Energy booth, participants of Maybank Marathon 2025 can try interactive solar calculator simulation to estimate potential electricity cost savings and carbon emission reductions from installing rooftop solar energy system in just five minutes. This educational experience is expected to raise public literacy on clean energy and encourage adoption of solar technology at household, commercial, and business levels.
“Our participation at Maybank Marathon is not only about showcasing technology, but also about inspiring behavioral change. We want every person who visits our booth or uses the charging station to leave with the understanding that clean energy is a real solution that can start today toward a carbon-neutral future,” said Anggita Pradipta, Group Head of Marketing at SUN Energy.
The collaboration between Maybank Indonesia and SUN Energy aligns with Maybank Group’s M25+ strategy to lead in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) within ASEAN, while also supporting the sustainable event standards promoted by World Athletics.
“Maybank Marathon has a strong commitment to integrating sustainability initiatives in every aspect of the event, focusing on reducing carbon footprint, effective waste management, and social and community engagement. We believe that sports events can also serve as a catalyst for behavioral change. The presence of SUN Energy since last year and continuing into this year adds another dimension of sustainability to Maybank Marathon 2025 and inspires participants to contribute to environmental preservation,” said Widya Permana, Project Director of Maybank Marathon.
SUN Energy’s participation in Maybank Marathon 2025 not only introduces solar energy technology but also strengthens the company’s role as a strategic partner in realizing a greener energy future, supporting Indonesia’s Net Zero Carbon 2060 target, and building competitiveness in the global energy transition era.
