SUN Energy, a company committed to promoting sustainable, low-emission energy and driving the transition toward renewable energy, is hosting the Green Future Summit 2024 across three major cities in Indonesia: Surabaya, Semarang, and Jakarta, throughout December. The city of Surabaya served as the first host of the event, held on December 2, 2024.

The summit brought together a lineup of expert speakers to present ideas and concepts supporting the green industrial revolution, including Hermanto Tanoko (CEO of Tancorp Abadi Nusantara), Ronald Walla (CEO of Wismilak), Maria R. Nindita Radyati (Chair of the Environmental, Social, and Governance Task Force at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry/KADIN), and Dr. Ir. Gentur Prihanto S. P, SH., MT., MH., IPU (Chair of the Indonesian Engineers Association for East Java Region).

The Green Future Summit 2024 aims to serve as a collaborative platform for key stakeholders in the development and implementation of renewable energy, including industry leaders, innovators, policymakers, and the wider public, to raise awareness about the urgency of climate change and how the industrial sector can contribute to global sustainability goals, including Indonesia’s Net Zero Carbon Emission target by 2060.

Beyond the private sector, SUN Energy also involved government representatives in the summit to engage in policy dialogue on what regulatory support is needed to help industries accelerate their shift toward sustainable, low-carbon production systems.

Dr. Ir. Gentur Prihanto highlighted four major challenges facing Industry 4.0 within the context of green industry: energy efficiency, waste management, carbon emissions, and regulatory compliance. On the topic of carbon reduction, Maria R. Nindita Radyati emphasized that companies with strong Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments hold a significant responsibility to adopt practices that support sustainability, including reducing carbon emissions as part of their environmental stewardship. She also noted that ESG is not only beneficial for the environment but is increasingly seen as a long-term investment, as many investors now factor ESG into their decision-making. Moreover, companies with solid ESG practices tend to enjoy stronger reputations among consumers, employees, and business partners.

This perspective was echoed by Hermanto Tanoko, CEO of Tancorp Abadi Nusantara, whose company has partnered with SUN Energy to install solar panels (PLTS) at the Avian Factory. “Today’s consumers are paying more attention to products that are not only high-quality but also demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability. To remain competitive, we need to align with this trend,” he stated.

The Green Future Summit 2024 in Surabaya succeeded in fostering dialogue that advances the green industry agenda, offering deeper insights into the role of renewable energy, particularly solar, in addressing climate challenges. SUN Energy remains committed to driving this green energy transition by continuing the Green Future Summit in two more cities: Semarang and Jakarta.
