SUN Energy is committed to promoting renewable energy, especially solar energy in Indonesia, by opening up various collaboration opportunities with all stakeholders, from industrial, commercial, residential, and even rural areas.
I Made Aditya Suryawidya, Head of Business Solutions SUN Energy, explained that geographically, Indonesia is located on the equator which makes the sun exposure is very beneficial for solar energy use. SUN Energy is more than ready to support the government’s policy of implementing 23% renewable energy in 2025.
“As a company that commits and would like to contribute as many as we can to accelerate Indonesia’s renewable energy target, we are ready to support along the way,” said I Made Aditya during SUN Energy’s discussion with the media on December 18th, 2020.
One of SUN Energy’s business solutions project is using solar energy technology to develop Lake Batur to be a source of clean water. “This project will start in January 2021,” said Made. Once the water is drinkable, the Batur UNESCO Global Geopark Management office will sell the gallon for IDR 8,000. In addition, SUN Energy is also in development with Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) of South Sumatera to use solar technology in Musi River.
Furthermore, SUN Energy through SUNterra is also intensively promoting the use of renewable energy for the residential segment by collaborating with Indonesia’s leading developers, this also includes Sinarmas Land.
The opportunity for solar energy compared to another source of renewable energy is very promising. The latest technology of solar systems that can be applied in all kinds of needs, from open space with ground-mounted installation and solar rooftop building can significantly boost Indonesia’s government national renewable energy target.
“The most important thing is the potential of the sun continues to shine throughout the year in a tropical country like Indonesia needs to be utilized and its potential should not be missed,” said Made.
Government policies are more collaborative for solar energy developers. Through Ministerial Regulation No. 13 and No. 16 of 2019 regarding the decrease meant in the imposition of a capacity charge from 40 hours to 5 hours, solar energy has become efficient alternative energy. Moreover, with the issuance of the Presidential Decree about the energy that is being prepared, it can help to revitalize the renewable energy ecosystem in Indonesia.
SUN Energy provides Zero Investment or No CAPEX financing scheme for solar rooftop installation to be more beneficial for customers. Customers can enjoy the benefit of low electricity bills since day one.
